Life is a series of choices. Every step is a choice, an option, a decision. We try our best to make these choices based on what we know. What we pick may not be based on what is right and what is wrong, but what we believe in our minds and hearts. Whatever we do decide, we have to compromise. It is always one or the other.

Apply for the Best Job in the World

Island Whats the best Job imaginable? This may be a bit far fetched but Australia has recently announced the best job offer in the world. It only lasts for six months but according to the details it is well worth it.

The Job pays $100,000 a month! Thats about 30,000 KD! For six months thats a total of 180,000 KD. Of course all travel expenses would be covered by the employer.

All thats really required for the employee to

stroll the white sands, snorkel the reef, take care of "a few minor tasks" — and report to a global audience via weekly blogs, photo diaries and video updates.

Do you want to apply? Go here: You might want to hurry though. The applications close at the end of February 2009.

Good Luck! ;p

Spring Cleaning, Throwing out the good stuff

heap of clothes Yesterday was one of those days. I opened the huge bag and took out everything and set them on the couch; piles of clothes. I dont buy many, but there sure was quite a heap. Most of the clothes are memorable, how I got them, where and when even though that isnt quite a normal thing (is it?) with guys.

Since Ive been married I have been clearing out some of my old stuff. Yes men, youll have to get rid of some stuff you own and that is not even an option. Im not saying its a bad thing, it isnt, not really. The best advice I can offer the men, is, dont panic. Seriously, Im sure you will be able to retain and keep some of your values possessions regardless of its vague and powerful attachment that women dont understand. Its a guy thing, surprisingly sometimes works but not all the time.

Im accepting to change, which Im hopeful for. This way I can look forward to good new stuff, like better clothes (that fit better.. youd be surprised, heck, even I was!) and even more memorable moments of acquiring such [new] clothes and other accessories and appliances.

Lets just say, yesterday was one day and one bag cleared. Tomorrow, who knows? Im just sure it is worth it, even now, and in the future.

English Search in

g_logo_plain I found searching using Google very annoying after they started using a local domain. All the results were always in Arabic. I usually had to go to then click on English to allow the search default language to be in English.

Not only that, but it quickly goes back to being in Arabic again after a while, and it just got too annoying for my taste.

I found that adding &hl=en to the end of the URL automatically changed the current search query into English!

For example if the URL was as follows:

Would turn into:

That’s it!

Goals Gone for Good

reaching for cookies I have been recently asking myself the scary question, What do I do when I reach my goals? Usually youd naturally think that reaching ones goals is the main objective of life. We set goals and we strive to reach them. So, what happens when we do actually reach them? Is there nothing at the end? Are we left empty? goal-less?

Personally, I think it would be best to create new goals. But, what if the thing you managed to achieve, doesnt feel the way you thought it would? What if with little time, the thing you achieved loses that special effect that it had on you when you first achieved it?

Thinking about this more, it seems that this is normal, but to what extent should it be normal? We await the moment to buy something special for ourselves, for example; a car. When we get it we become excited for quite a while and with time, it doesnt feel so special anymore.

The issue becomes more serious when it is a much bigger goal, education for example or another life changing event. For me, I love to revisit my goals, especially those important to me, because usually I really go through a lot to reach these special goals.

What about you? Do you have goals? Have you achieved some? All?

That Damn Chinese Cat, Again

Ever since Bojacob got that damn Chinese cat, or shall I say, Fu! and Fu! it is indeed! It sits idle on his desk, its hand waving back and forth, calling or pushing back the luck in this place. Disaster has struck since we placed a battery in it! Im not one to believe in such stuff, but it seems that it has become the conversation of the departments.

People walk around trying to sabotage this so called good-luck clay cat charm. So far, no attempt has been successful. Damn Chinese cat indeed.

On a lighter note, I have successfully moved the VMWare image from my desktop to my laptop and can successfully blog using Windows Live Writer as I please. This is seriously the only reason I have Windows at the moment.

Excuses – Slow Blogging

I have been waiting for an excuse to write something here but I still dont have one. My excuse not to write was the unavailability of a great blogging client such as Windows Live Writer on Mac or Linux. Oh, and I wouldnt bother visiting the link on your Mac, it will take you to the Mactopia Microsoft website bleh.

Another excuse why I havent written is lack of content to write about. Ive been quite busy with my wife and work. Most events that happen arent worth blogging about (or are, but I simply wouldnt like to get that stuff on here.)

I thought about posting a branch of what I get done at work (and off work) mainly related to Linux tricks, JavaScript and Perl snippets and even strategies on getting things done with your Linux machine. Sadly, that type of content is too niche for my style, though I do get a kick out of doing that at time.

Im not planning on quitting or leaving anytime soon. This is, after all, my home online. Ive created a bond with my blog, with my domain, and the essence that exists here.

Hmm, what I need is a jump start anyone have jumper cables? Im hoping time will do its thing and get me up and running again.

Blog Action Day: What 10KD means to you

Here are some things you can do with 10KD:

  • 2 or 3 trips to the gas station.
  • A full meal at Fridays, Applebees, Chili’s.. etc.
  • Half, or even less than half of a pair of jeans, a shirt, or accessory.
  • A small fraction of a phone bill (average is around 50KD a month I’m assuming)
  • 3 trips to the cinema alone, or one trip including popcorn and drinks with a snack.
  • Half or two thirds the price of a DVD movie.

Here are some other things you can do with 10KD:

  • Buy some (minimal) groceries.
  • Buy lots and lots of small sandwiches.
  • Buy lots and lots of bread.
  • Buy lots and lots of drinking water.
  • Buy (mostly) lots and lots of sweets.

The price and usefulness of each item varies. You can buy a lot of stuff with that amount of money. You can do something even greater with only 10KD, something much bigger, better, and more effective. You can make a difference in someone’s life. You can help someone live, learn, eat, and give them shelter.. with only 10KD.

What you can do is, sponsor a child. Bait Alzakat will give you the opportunity to sponsor a child (Kafalat yateem) for only 10KD a month. Imagine the difference you will make in someone’s life with such a small expense.

The issue of poverty is a never ending issue. There will always be people who are in poverty, and we who do not have a chance to extend a helping hand.

Today’s Blog Action Day topic is Poverty. Find out what other people are saying about poverty around the world by going to

Barcelona Football Stadium in A’ardiyah

I was looking for the Aramex main building online when I stumbled upon the Barcelona football stadium, as well as the Manchester football stadium all in A’ardiyah. If you want to drive around for fun, how about “Happiness Street“.

P.S. Arabic language required to read the actual names.

What’s the Latest News about Kuwait

Female fan’s kiss ends music concert in Kuwait

Sun Oct 5, 9:51 AM ET

KUWAIT CITY – A Kuwaiti official says authorities abruptly ended a music concert by an Egyptian singer in this conservative Muslim country when a young female fan jumped on stage, hugged the male singer and gave him a kiss.

Qanas al-Adwani, who heads the government department that monitors public entertainment, says the girl’s behavior at Friday’s concert “defied the conservative traditions” of Kuwait.

Al-Adwani also said Sunday that the fan’s behavior broke controls on public entertainment, which were imposed by influential Muslim fundamentalists after they failed in 1997 to ban concerts altogether. Concerts have to be licensed by the government, and monitors from the Information Ministry watch the crowd to make sure nobody stands up to dance.

There you go folks, the latest news in Kuwait around the internet.

It bothers me how this is the type of news that makes it around. I’m sure people will voice their hate and calls for “freedom” and “democracy” in the unjust religious country of Kuwait after seeing something like this. I mean come on, there are ethics of behavior still, and norms. This news article sort of just makes it worse.

Quick Short Posts with Twitter Integration

Twitter logo I have installed twitter tools by Alex King. This will enable me to post more, when I post a tweet on twitter it will be posted here, and when I post an entry on my blog here, it will be linked on my twitter page. And no this will not cause the world to end as Alex King’s FAQ says,

What happens if I have both my tweets posting to my blog as posts and my posts sent to Twitter? Will it cause the world to end in a spinning fireball of death?

Actually, Twitter Tools has taken this into account and you can safely enable both creating posts from your tweets and tweets from your posts without duplicating them in either place.

Also, I apologize for the river of tweets recently in the feed. Those have been taken care of.

Twitter is a micro-blogging social network website.

Reserved, going to add something here later.
