Life is a series of choices. Every step is a choice, an option, a decision. We try our best to make these choices based on what we know. What we pick may not be based on what is right and what is wrong, but what we believe in our minds and hearts. Whatever we do decide, we have to compromise. It is always one or the other.

Can We believe?

Do I believe what I want to believe? I hear things, many things, and sometimes I wonder if I only believe the things that I want to believe, to preserve my sanity probably, or my composure. Don’t worry this isn’t a depressed post, it is more of a questions post. One that I seem to always have a conversation with myself about. What about you, do you sometimes find yourself believing only the things you want to believe?

if no harm is done than it’s ok to believe that! For example you could have had a fight with someone and you chose to believe that you were the one that’s right for your own justification but if this person isn’t your friend or anything than it’s ok to believe that no harm is done!

it’s easier to believe what i want that to come in terms with reality .. do i do it sometimes? Sure
example: the reality is i have a lot of school work to do that i might not be able to get to it all. But i’d like to believe that i will get to it and complete it successfully

    Come aboard

Sometimes it becomes much easier for us to believe things only we choose to believe and that make sense to us even though it might sometimes through all logic against the wall or what the surroundings seem to find logical.

I believe it contributes in shaping the personality greatly and molding personal ethics and characteristics.

Why wouldn’t someone lay back to own beliefs that insure at least a subtle tranquility and keep their hope up that the best is yet to come.

It’s alright as long as it doesn’t go over the edge by supporting personal prejudice. Keep them close and never discard them as they might fade away leaving your sanity numbed.

Yeah sometimes I do that. I like to live in my own pink bubble and believe idinya b5air, the birds are chippering and everyone is saintly and happy- it makes me happy, then the SLAPS commence, ti9i6ir 96arat by reality.

Well, I’m not sure why, but I tried to read your post twice now and still couldn’t figure out what was going on. This is no fault of yours, by the way. I’m just freakin’ hungry!

Reading it a third time. I suppose it depends on a person’s character? Some seem to push their limits to find answers, and some are just content with the life they have and don’t want it to change. Whatever floats your boat, ain’t no harm in either.

See, this is why I don’t comment on your deep trick questions! I have a splitting headache just from thinking up what to say.

I talk to myself too. And this is one of the questions I ask my self a lot. Believe in reality but dont be fooled by its fantasies. Do I believe in what I believe? If I dont believe it then my life is a lie and I live a fantasy. If I do believe it then my reality runs in parallel with the bigger reality, in another sense, I live another fantasy. What I believe can be real. But what is real if you cant prove it? Do I believe in reality? Or do I believe in what I believe?

Hmm.. well, that goes on me I guess – am the kinda person that lends my ears to what people say, which most of the time is bullshit that they “spice” up & that breaks you down – hurts you more than it does to them… I say seel truth from relaible people or do not judge until you investigate about what you heard or simply, IGNORE!

  10. Vixen |

Wakarimasen. Tho I’m sure that I convince myself not to believe in stuff I don’t want to believe in. Even though sometimes we believe in things that aren’t real. I guess we believe in what we want to believe in, real or not.

  15. Fayoora |

I believe what i want to and what i dont want to

  16. N. |

I like everyone’s answers to the point that I don’t want to reply individually. As long as we keep on believing, I believe, that is what matters most.

  17. princess |

hmmm i hear everything, but i believe only wats conveniant for me, because as u may have noticed i fixate and obsess so if i give wazin 7ag everything i hear, i’ll pretty much go crazy

  18. Marzouq |

Nope, you just take it as it comes along. I would rather deal with an issue head on to get it over with, and not have to deal with all the issues until later.

  19. Ri |

And then there are times you believe what you know to be untrue, only because the truth is too scary to handle. You know?

Take care man ! always remember ‘every problem has a solution’ … i say again ‘ every problem has a solution’ … take it easy!

  22. Sarah |

i think that everybody believes what they want to believe, sees what they want to see, hears what they want to hear…

  23. Chirp |

You can only see what you want to see, and you only believe what you want to believe.

  24. Noufa |

Always! I believe only what I want. but it’s not always a good thing.

  25. Navy Girl |

    oh a jap. boy ;P watch a lot of manga ?? i only know argataa !! :D

anyways .. i think its true .. we sometimes tend to believe only what we want to believe .. and somehow miss the things we dont wana hear .. or maybe play our mind in some way … psychology is a big mystery ..

  26. Shale |

I cannot make myself believe it something that I do not feel to be true. I sometimes think it would be easier if I could, but then I would not be me.

  27. KJ |

Basically it is like selective hearing. You believe in whatever makes you comfortable, the rest is just facts that you choose to ignore.

  28. palo-girl |

Yes. And the other way around too – I choose not to believe what I don’t want to.

A lot of times I monitor what kind of things I want to believe or not to maintain a state of calm and happiness. So basically I tell myself lies so that I don’t get depressed.

For example, if I really really really believed that I really could die anytime, and go to either Heaven or Hell, I would be a very different person. If I really truly beileved that 60% of the world’s population is under the poverty line, and therefore suffering a lot of unhappiness and difficulties, I would not be able to enjoy anything.

And so, I just simply block these things out, to satisfy the overwhelming urge to stay constantly happy.
    Sad, isnt it?

  29. N. |

It is sad, I believe what you mentioned has more to do with the different types of reality. Immediate reality, and non-immediate; I wish to post about this too, probably very soon.

  30. lone.rangeress |

its easier to believe in the things that make u feel better/contempt… but at times, u are required to believe even the unbelievable things, that way ur mind will eventually learn to believe in them, thus making u avoid these things in the future. (Ur mind is probably al over the place, but im thinking of a specific thing rite now and thats y this makes total sense to me:P)

  31. N. |

I think I understand what you mean. It is a sort of preparation, to have a certain expectation so that you wouldn’t be too shocked or surprised when it does happen? I dunno thats how I understood it :p

Reserved, going to add something here later.
