Life is a series of choices. Every step is a choice, an option, a decision. We try our best to make these choices based on what we know. What we pick may not be based on what is right and what is wrong, but what we believe in our minds and hearts. Whatever we do decide, we have to compromise. It is always one or the other.

My Creative Profile: Creative Pathfinder

Thanks to Shayma (ahamshay.com) for posting about an online creativity profiler. The test is a part of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh online division. I still remember watching the TV when I was in the US and always seeing the ads of the institute wondering if the scholarship program would agree if someone wanted to study in such institutes. I don’t think they will.

And as you know I am a large promoter of creativity and freeing your mind. After taking the test it turns out I’m a creative pathfinder and this is what it said about me.

HOW DO I THINK
Inspiration comes from innovation: your conscience lies with the future, You are inspired by how a problem is solved, not discussed. It’s all about natural form… it can seem random, but there is an intentional symmetry that really appeals to your eye. You seek out your creativity by grabbing opportunities that come your way. Challenges invigorate your mind and provide you with a point of reference.

HOW DO I LIVE
Nothing beats the buss of getting far away from the grind of daily life, kicking back, and enjoying a little serenity! Others see you as someone who can fix it. You’ll always get stuck in, not afraid to fail on the route to getting the right answers. Bliss is a feeling free to do as you please, exploring the world and your limitless imagination. Grabbing some time for you is a must. You like to keep well informed, soak up as much information as you can.

HOW I CREATE
Your strengths lie in your confidence to try out the unknown, mastering it before the masses. Being on the cusp on something new excites your appetite for cutting edge technology. You love the twists and turns of a well-told tale. The drama of life is one of your big passions. Pen to paper, you can grab any opportunity to record the thoughts that buzz about; you’ve got a creative head on those shoulders.

HOW I WORK
You learn best when you can discuss and argue the point. Learning should always be challenging and exciting. It would be great to be able to manage your own workload and be your own boss. Once you’ve got the know-how, you could realize your dream.

So What is your Creative Profile?

My Little Mishap

First off, note the new poll on the side :) Thank you for your contribution!

Yummy Juices Yes, I have orange and carrot juice on my cloths. I know I shouldn’t have forgotten my bib at home!

You see, today is a special day. My gym routine has gotten an upgraded and my time has been increased on the elliptical machine, the tread mill, and the bicycle. This means I have even less time to eat, less time to shower and even less time to change, since I have to get back to work by 4pm.

I decided to have some lunch at the gym, it was actually very good and quite tasty, however the food arrived late which meant I was definitely going to be arriving late to work. I didn’t care much, I still tried to make it back in time. If you saw a black jeep whizzing by on the first ring road, that was me, I apologize!

I actually made it just in time (4:05), however in the elevator one the customers pointed out that I have juice on my dishdasha. I looked at it, and said, "Ah, 3ad hatha 3a9er bortaqal o jazar, shesheela al7een?" (Oh, This is orange and carrot juice, what’s going to get this out now [for those who don't read arablish]) With a half-disappointed "Oh Well" sort of smile.

I looked up at the guy, he seemed more distressed than I was! Not a smile, not even a, "Everything is OK" look. He actually had a, "OMG We are doomed!" look. I kept smiling and exited the elevator to sign in, and take care of this sucker.

Thank God for the Qutra, a little improvising does wonders. The stain is now covered up, and hidden well under my qutra well. Alrighty then, back to work (or sleep. Those 3 hours I slept are taking a toll on me, looks like I’m going to pass out on my desk).

P.S. I’d also like you to welcome a dear friend of mine, Mrm (http://mirimthemirim.wordpress.com/) who only recently joined the blog-O-sphere.

No Title

I haven’t picked a title for this post, mainly because I don’t know what exactly I’m going to talk about. I have been feeling a little down recently. There have been quite a few things going on around me which, lets just say, are shocking and to a certain unbelievable degree.

You know when you hear a story, and think it is a fairy tale? That these things can’t or don’t happen in real life? I used to think that, and whenever I heard a sad story like that I said, “Allah ekafena el shar”. (May God discharge evil [from us])*. Lately, I have been thinking, sometimes these aren’t too far from the truth, they can indeed happen, and sometimes things you never imaged possible creep up on you.

I’ve learned that patience, and hope are a man’s greatest tools of existence. Without them, a soul’s destruction is inevitable.

* That’s the best translation I could come up with.

My Sister, The Baby Eater

I talked about my nephew before, and that cute Japanese girl who was in our house a while back. I saw her yesterday too, she just got back from a long vacation. As soon as she saw me she came running to me giving me a big hug! She’s the most cutest kid I have ever seen! Today’s story, however, is of a different nature.. do not be shocked.

My nephew and sister were in the car talking about my nephew’s first day in school (He’s in KG1/Year 1). The conversation goes something like this (I’ll refer to her using Mother, and him as Son to make reading it easy):

Mother: What is the name of your teacher?
Son: Teacher Miss Huda.
Mother: Eh 7abeby, maygolon Teacher Miss Huda, Ya Teacher Huda or Miss Huda okay baby.
Son: Ohma egolon chithee.
Mother: Meno?
Son: El yahaal.
Mother: Eh Ba3th-hom chithee, o Ba3th-hom chithee.
Son: Yuma, laish bet-3ethenhom.
Mom: *shocked* Sheno? La el yahal ba3th-hom egolon Teacher Huda o ba3th-hom egolon Miss Huda.
Son: E, bet-3ethenhom?
Mom: *testaw3eb, o taqshi men el the7ek. She calls my mom and tells her the story.*

Later on they arrive at our home, and my nephew goes to my mom.

Son: *to my mom* Omy bet-3eth el yahal.
My Mom: *laughing* La! Ehya etgol ba3th-hom, ya3ne eshwaya menhom mo kelehom!
Son: *gets into it!* Laaaaaaaa. bet3eth-hoooom! HUMMM! *and makes a huge biting action*

Haha!

Major? What Major!

Student ChoiceI probably wouldn’t be studying what I did seven years ago if it wasn’t for a scholarship. The thought of someone else paying for everything made it seem like such an easy decision. That is, of course, compared to actually working and paying for it myself. I would not have made up my mind right after graduating high school and would have taken a break to find out what I really wanted to do. What about you?

What is this Blog about?

I cut my break short because of some unfortunate events. For those who thought I was taking a vacation, I wish you were right. I only took a break from blogging mainly and reduced my online time in general.

During that period I got plenty of ideas about things to write. I wrote all those Ideas down so I can share them with you soon! I also thought about giving you an Idea what this blog is really all about.

I don’t write much offline, but I do enjoy writing in my blog for the readers out there. As you have seen already I write about myself, my opinions, thoughts, things I have seen or heard, and sometimes something very random and abstract.

You may wonder why I write some of the things that I do, why I enjoy abstract deep subjects (which are quite timeless, and possibly very random as well). These, my friends, are simply to get your mind jogging. They are thought provoking concepts that put your minds into gear, if you so wish. You may even wish to move on and ignore such involving bidirectional communicative situations *cough*.

I’m not a philosopher. I’m an IT geek, and a typical one in many aspects. I hope you would enjoy your time here, as much as I enjoy writing and sharing my most intimate thoughts, feelings, and experiences with you all.

Regards,
N.

P.S. Now, the challenge: To catch up on all of you! Lots of reading to do here… and off we go.

Break Time

Sailing AwayI have been meaning to take this for a while now. This is only a temporary break. I will be back, you can count on it.

8 Things

In the 8 facts about [name], you share 8 things that your readers don’t know about you. At the end, you tag 8 other bloggers to keep the fun going. Each blogger must post these rules first. Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves. At the end of the post, a blogger needs to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog…

  • I’m an alien. (My secret is out.)
  • I just got new glasses.
  • I hate malls on weekends. They’re too crowded and mostly people are there to linger.
  • I used to smoke, and quit, an average of 8 times during the past 8 years. I don’t smoke anymore.
  • I don’t like mushrooms but I love mushroom soup.
  • I used to know how to speak Spanish and French, not anymore.
  • My shoe size is 42 1/2.
  • I used to watch my neighbor’s Indian movies when I was a child.

People Money Problems

Money ProblemsRegardless of how funny the comic is, this is a serious situation. There is someone, lets call him Mr. X who has a super close friend, we can call him Mr. Y, who has another friend, and lets call him Mr. Z. Mr Z. has got major money issues. Mr. X doesn’t know the exact details of why Mr Z has money issues because he’s not really his friend, he’s Mr. Y’s friend. Mr. Y who wants to help out Mr. Z doesn’t have enough cash to back him up, so he goes to Mr. X and borrows a certain sum of money to help Mr Z.

Mr. X and Mr. Y are life long friends, they are like blood brothers, nothing could separate them ever, but Mr. X is bothered by Mr. Z. You see, he doesn’t like him but he helps out because it seems that Mr. Y is distressed of the situation and wants to help out Mr. Z so badly.

Sorry for all the cryptic names, but it is necessary to protect the innocent, (or the guilty). What’s your take on the situation? It seems like Mr. X has no choice but to help Mr. Y, but Mr X just doesn’t like Z, for no apparent reason. Mr. Z is in trouble, big trouble, with payments, and I suppose that is why Mr. Y wants to help out so much.

This is a little confusing. I don’t know.. things always seem to get sensitive when someone’s having financial problems..

Japanese Girl, in our house!

Cute Japanese GirlSee that little girl? No she wasn’t in our house. But one very similar! I first saw her months ago while we were having a family gathering. A cute little Japanese girl (About 3 years old) was walking among us carrying a little pink handbag. We knew something was wrong with that picture, how did she get here!

It later turned out (I found out) that our previous house keeper now works for a Japanese family and was baby sitting so she brought the little girl over. Everyone was saying how cute and adorable she was! And she really is! Recently, I’ve been seeing a lot more of her since our ex-housekeeper comes around in the afternoon usually leaves when the family driver is ready to pick them up.

Whenever I see her in our house, I can’t help but think that a cute little anime character is standing right in front of me! I’d always try chatting with her but somehow I’d have a hard time understanding what she was saying. After much debate I managed to actually tell her something in Japanese, and so I said, “Konichiwa” She smiled a very cute smile and replied, “Konichiwaaa”! Allah ekhaleha enshalla mashallah 3aleha.

Her friend, my 4 year old nephew is a different story! I don’t know they communicate when they play together but I guess they have a way of understanding each other.

Reserved, going to add something here later.
