Life is a series of choices. Every step is a choice, an option, a decision. We try our best to make these choices based on what we know. What we pick may not be based on what is right and what is wrong, but what we believe in our minds and hearts. Whatever we do decide, we have to compromise. It is always one or the other.

Fake Forwards

Lois and Peter GriffinIn the words of Peter Griffin, “You know what really grinds my gears?”: Fake and Hoax forwards! Most of forwards I get in my e-mail are fake except for the faith related ones that tell an anecdote, or have a short du3a and thikr. What is it with these forwards about plastic bottles and cancer, and microwave safety! Most of them are fake, and have no benefit what so ever! I don’t understand why someone would make up such stories and send them to hundreds of people!

As a bonus, here’s a little funny segment from Family guy totally unrelated to e-mail forwards:

Family Guy – What really grinds my gears
[Youtube | 1m02s]
(I can’t find the rating on the IMDB site, It probably is rated MA for Mature Audience, kinda like Southpark)

And before I leave, Kel 3amo w’entow eb khair o Embarak 3alikom el Shahar. :)

When The Storm of Chaos Settles

Life is so complex, that sometimes we get thrown off balance. We get thrown into chaos. We enter what I like to call, the cycle of emotions (oh how unique :p). Where we mostly try and do our best to get back on track.

Sometimes we get sidetracked into too much sadness and guilt, we dwell in these feelings for too long. We dig a deeper hole for ourselves. We struggle to find a way to come out of that hole. Sometimes we do, other times we just can’t because we don’t see the way.

Here is a list of emotions we go through in such a storm, especially in this order;
Confusion, Hate, Anger, Sadness, Pain, Remorse, Guilt, Regret, Forget, Forgive, Remember, Accept, Hope, Dream, Love, Trust, Betrayal.

Alright, I just made up that list in that specific order to show the stages one goes through. It is not easy to just jump from emotion to emotion but we do what we can to keep on living. We can live on accepting the fact that some things are just out of our control. We cannot control every situation and make the outcome be in our favor. There are people out there who feel things we do not understand, or we do not accept, but who’s to say who’s right and who’s wrong.

These storms can last from days, to weeks, to months or even years. The most important stage here is Hope. It is safe, it is comforting, and it is what keeps us going. I believe that beautiful things can happen in this world, regardless of how messed up everything seems.

All we need is a little bit of faith.

While typing this, a song kept playing in my head. Here it is for you.

Apply Yourself, Be Creative

Creativity

Be creative.

Think Innovation.

Unleash your mind.

Envision your future.

I am sure that there is a large portion of the population who are extremely creative and imaginative in the country. We also know that recognition of creativity is limited. The actual places and activities related to creativity are somewhat limited.

Creativity as I see is not only in the fields of music and art, but also all types of sciences, from physics to social sciences, from medicine to English literature. There is also photography, video capture, video editing, video directing, acting, writing. I’d also like to mention pottery, arts and crafts, and sculpting. I’d like for you to share if there is something you currently do, or would do to apply yourself.

How do/would you apply yourself? As a creative, imaginative, innovative person, how do/would you go about demonstrating your abilities?

Do you do something locally, for example play in a local band, have a small gallery, present your work to a local community?

Or maybe you prefer to be recognized in a global scale. Do you publish your work on the Internet? Are you a member of an international organization? Do you submit your work for international review?

People Money Problems

Money ProblemsRegardless of how funny the comic is, this is a serious situation. There is someone, lets call him Mr. X who has a super close friend, we can call him Mr. Y, who has another friend, and lets call him Mr. Z. Mr Z. has got major money issues. Mr. X doesn’t know the exact details of why Mr Z has money issues because he’s not really his friend, he’s Mr. Y’s friend. Mr. Y who wants to help out Mr. Z doesn’t have enough cash to back him up, so he goes to Mr. X and borrows a certain sum of money to help Mr Z.

Mr. X and Mr. Y are life long friends, they are like blood brothers, nothing could separate them ever, but Mr. X is bothered by Mr. Z. You see, he doesn’t like him but he helps out because it seems that Mr. Y is distressed of the situation and wants to help out Mr. Z so badly.

Sorry for all the cryptic names, but it is necessary to protect the innocent, (or the guilty). What’s your take on the situation? It seems like Mr. X has no choice but to help Mr. Y, but Mr X just doesn’t like Z, for no apparent reason. Mr. Z is in trouble, big trouble, with payments, and I suppose that is why Mr. Y wants to help out so much.

This is a little confusing. I don’t know.. things always seem to get sensitive when someone’s having financial problems..

Nosey People

Nosey

Don’t you just hate nosey people, especially at the office? What is with those who just stand there, stare at you do your work, or stare at your computer screen. I’ve had my share of encounters with nosey people and it seems you just have to draw the line with some people.

Earlier, I was working in the conference room drawing up some diagrams, mapping things out on the white board. An employee came in and just stood there close to the door looking inside staring at what I was doing. I kept looking at him, but it seemed he was trying to understand the diagram. It bothered me, so I asked him if he needed anything, he lost his smile and kept walking.

Not two minutes later, another employee comes walking by, and stands by the door looking inside impressed by the diagrams. As soon as I turn to look at him, he disappears. I just ended up closing the door. How do you handle nosey people?

Elevator Scent

Scent I love going up and down in the building. There are only two elevators and usually customers are always coming in, up and down! Every time I go into an elevator it smells different! ?Sometimes it has this bukhour and dihn 3oud scent, I love that. At other times I smell pure coffee, and the beautiful coffee not just regular coffee smell!

A while ago, when I got on the elevator, the smell of flowers and some other sensual female perfume.. I love the fact that I’m working at the topmost floor.

P.S. Scent of a Woman comes to mind..

Kuwaitis Don’t Walk

Walking in the desert

Thursday was quite a busy day for me. It got a quite interesting when I went to Bin Khaldoun Street to get a couple of hard drives. One 500GB SATA 7200rpm internal hard drive cost about 45KD. I didn’t carry around that amount of cash, so the clerk offered to come with me to the bank. That in itself was strange, usually he’s probably say, “we only take cash” and “you can get some cash at the atm” *points in that direction*. This guy offered to go with me to the bank!

Fair enough. He printed out the receipt handed over the bag and closed up the shop. We started walking. As we walked, Part of the conversation went a little like this:

Him: You have car?
Me: Yes, It is parked on the opposite side of the street.
Him: Aha.
*a couple minutes pass*
Him: Where you from?
Me: Kuwait.
Him: *looking at me weird* You Egypt?
Me: No, no.. I’m from Kuwait.
Him: No, you no Kuwaiti
Me: !!!
Me: Yeah, I am from Kuwait. Kuwaiti.
Him: No, Kuwaiti don’t walk like this. *smiling in disbelief and shaking his head..*
Me: Why, what do you mean?
Him: Kuwaiti only drive they don’t walk.
Me: Ah, well there are some that enjoy walking.
Him: No, ah.. umm..
Me: *smiling*
Him: Maybe 2%
Me: Yeah, even 2%, that’s.. 1,000,000.. well about, 2000 people. That’s a lot. (My calculation was off, it is actually 20,000)
Him: Ah yeah.

That was odd, heh. It was hot, the bank was about a 5 minute walk, we had to cross streets, so it wasn’t just an easy walk. He was in disbelief that a Kuwaiti guy would walk with him to the bank under such conditions.

What’s in a Name?

Confused

I’ve been at the new job for about a week. I also haven’t had that much interaction with many of the employees here — let alone having to know everyone’s name. This is me a few minutes ago:

I received a call from M who wants me to bring him a disk with specific information. I got a hold of a disk, went down to the Administration department and then…

Me (To secretary): Which office is M’s?
Her : That one over there.
ME: Thanks!

I strolled over to the location, and I see two desks; a Kuwaiti guy sitting at one, and the other empty.

Me (To the Kuwaiti guy, while looking over at the other desk): Oh, so M isn’t here yet?
Kuwaiti Dude: I’m M.
Me (Shocked!): Oh!

I took a look at his name tag, and indeed, he was M! My oh My.. when will I ever start learning.. names. I assumed that for some reason the Kuwaiti can’t be named M. M is not a Kuwaiti name! I haven’t met Kuwaiti person with the name M!

Reserved, going to add something here later.
