Life is a series of choices. Every step is a choice, an option, a decision. We try our best to make these choices based on what we know. What we pick may not be based on what is right and what is wrong, but what we believe in our minds and hearts. Whatever we do decide, we have to compromise. It is always one or the other.

Bacn, Spam, and Red Meat

This is the newest internet buzz word. Most of you are familiar with email spam, which is junk email that comes in from only God knows where and is meant to lure you to click on links or download Trojans or viruses.

Bacn is a different story, as mentioned by Wikipedia.

(pronounced bacon) is the term given to electronic messages which have been subscribed to and are therefore not unsolicited but are often unread by the recipient for a long period of time. Bacn is email you want but not right now.

Basically it is newsletters and such that you have subscribed to. And you all know what the other Bacon is? Don’t you?

Spam, to all you unfamiliar with food related meaning of the term is:

Spam luncheon meat is a canned precooked meat product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation. The labeled ingredients in the Classic variety of Spam are: chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added, salt, water, sugar, and sodium nitrite. The product has become part of many jokes and urban legends about mystery meat, which has made it part of pop culture and folklore.

It looks like email is being categorized as meat. Here is what you can expect in the future:

Sirloin, the email coming in from your best friends.
Tenderloin, email from your significant other.
Ribs, is email from your family.

BBQ. Anyone?

Unjust Arrest and Detainment of a Kuwaiti Blogger

In short I want to extend my deepest sadness and full support to the Kuwaiti community for this unjust behavior. I’d like to say that I do not condone such actions. The unjust behavior we have heard about yesterday must be looked into and we must stand together for our brothers and sisters.

Emotion-Sensing Furniture Changes Hues

Emotion Sensing FurnitureFuwapica — Soft and flashy. This is the new furniture of the future. Whereby it interacts with your mood and its surroundings to change hues. A concept would be such that..

a person might walk into a room furnished with Fuwapica, place a memento or favorite item — let’s say a blue vase — on the table and sit on one of the chairs. Gradually the chairs begin to change from white to blue.

Isn’t that just very cool? Read more about it at the Discovery Channel Technology News website.

Tea or Coffee

Which do you prefer? Here are some random cool facts I found;

Caffeine –

  • Starbucks Grande – 320mg
  • Regular 8oz Coffee – 133mg
  • Red Bull – 80mg*
  • FDA for limit in Sodas – 75mg

But ouch! How about this piece of news.. “caffeine can also be highly addictive and [...] it has been shown to decrease fertility in both men and women.” — yikes!

Antioxidants –

Fruits, Coffee, and Tea all have antioxidants. You may wonder “What have antioxidants been credited with? Everything from lowering the risk of certain cancers to reducing heart attacks to slowing the aging process.”

The original article goes into MUCH more detail discussing the relation of tea and coffee to subjects such as; Bone Health, Oral Health, Immune System, Liver Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, and much more. Follow the original link at the bottom of this post.

* As a note, Red Bull is about the sugar, not the caffeine as many might think.

Wet Gadgets!

When was the last time you dropped your phone or any electronic gadget into the water? Did you take it to the store and get told that your warranty has been revoked cause you dropped it in water?! That sucks doesn’t it. Fear no more, the ultimate revival solution is here!

How to fix wet Gadgets!
Place in a bowl/bucket of rice! Yep, Basmati works the best I hear :p

References: Dry out your soaked gadgets in rice

Edit — After further questions from a lot of people, I’ve decided to post how it works! Stay tuned.

The dry rice around the device absorbs the moisture in the air. This is not to say that it would dry your device if it was dropped into some other liquid! However, you can try to clean it with pure water before using this technique. Furthermore, you may have to place the device in the rice bowl more than once in a few days. Also,

Remember that sometimes even water leaves stains, and may not be 100% pure and particle free! When the device dries up, your device may function for a while, or may not function at all. If it does indeed function, the first thing you should do is back-up your data!

Conserve

We live in a world where we must learn to conserve energy. We learn to limit our energy usage and actually give a crap about the state of the world. Even though I understand that we must promote alternative and environmental changes for the better, why does this have to happen at the expense of no electricity in the summer!

Logically, our country is doing well economically with the soaring oil prices over the past 5 years. What is the problem guys? I’m not going to get pissed (that ship has sailed). It just doesn’t make sense to have these blackouts! Why isn’t there a new power plant? Or better yet, let Kuwait join the action! Lets refine and weaponize transform plutonium into energy i.e. Nuclear power plants!

So we committed a tiny mistake of ruining the ozone, no biggie, we’ll get right back to fixing it (pdf link).

News: The Future Future

In the latest Tech and Space related news,

Solar-Powered Plane to Attempt History

May 22, 2007 A dainty solar-powered plane with wings the width of a giant Airbus will retrace exploits in aviation history, including Charles Lindbergh’s first ever transatlantic crossing, before a pioneering round-the-world flight in 2011, project leaders said Tuesday.

While this sounds very fascinating I can’t help but imagine the following scenario, “Oh Shit! A Cloud!” Best of luck to this great scientific venture!

‘Growable’ Homes Made With Mushrooms
The patented Greensulate formula is an organic, fire-retardant board made of water, flour, minerals and mushroom spores. It not only hinders heat flow but could also be modified to produce sustainable, “growable” homes.

While maybe sounding a little strange to live in a mushroom home, it is biodegradable and is less expensive than the regular insulator currently used.

This reminds me of Igloos and they were the perfect solution for living in an Ice-olated (tehee) area! Nevertheless, As ridiculous as this may sound to normal ppl, these are the homes of the future (not the current future, but future future).

Reserved, going to add something here later.
