Life is a series of choices. Every step is a choice, an option, a decision. We try our best to make these choices based on what we know. What we pick may not be based on what is right and what is wrong, but what we believe in our minds and hearts. Whatever we do decide, we have to compromise. It is always one or the other.
I got pulled over at the bida’a round about because I was talking on the phone. I wasn’t pissed, it was more of, “oh you got me” kind of mood heh. He asked me to turn and park behind him. I went ahead and did that, and waited while he gave me a ticket.
The conversation went something like this:
Policeman: Nasser, wain saken? (Nasser, where do you live?) Me: [Insert City here] Policeman: Sheno a9lek? (What is your origin? [Could also mean where are you from, or what tribe do you belong to]). Me: Kuwaiti. Policeman: *Puzzled* Eh sheno a9lek? (Ok, what is your origin?) Me: Eh Kuwaiti………. (Kuwaiti…) Policeman: ee sheno? 3nezi? 3azmi?.. (What?… Azemi? Anezi?) Me: Oh–
Then another cop interrupted to ask about what they would have for dinner. Our conversation died out I didn’t get to tell him which tribe I was originally from. Funny thing was, while he was asking it didn’t even slightly cross my mind that he was talking about tribes…
And if you were wondering, he gave me the ticket anyway.
Hello everyone, I’m back from my trip to the U.K. It was a great change and the weather there was just great.
I have tried uploading pictures but I’ve reached my limit with flickr, so I’m thinking now of upgrading my account. Just haven’t decided on it yet. You’ll probably see the rest of this trip’s photos next month :p I just upgraded it, so I uploaded most of the trip images now. I’ll upload the rest tomorrow. For now you can check the ones that I have managed to upload out on my flickr profile at http://www.flickr.com/photos/oneortheother/.
It will take me a while to catch up on everything that has happened the past two weeks. Work is a little more hectic now, but that is to be expected. However, It sure is great to be back.
A while back I registered on twitter and created my own profile. I also added the status updates on the sidebar for those of you who have not noticed. The new term for Web 2.0 applications such as Twitter is Micro-blogging.
I’m going to be traveling in a few hours to the U.K. for a business trip. I doubt I’ll be able to follow up on blogs, or even post as much as I would like to, but rest assured there is much to be discussed and much to be posted.
I usually write thoughts in my pocket notebook that I carry with me everywhere I go. I scribble the notes in hopes to publish them and discuss them with those who are interested. Believe it or not, not all the stuff I write makes it here on my blog, only a tiny fraction does. The reason is, some of the notes are questions of the type that have no real or obtainable answer.
Before I conclude, I’ll share with you something that I have written a while back but never posted about.
Comparing life and death. What is life, [but] a conscious ability to experience.
I have been thinking about this for a while now. I thought I’d just ask everyone who happens to drop by here about what they thought.
Are you in favor of me adding a web forum to this website? Vote on the poll on the right please.
If you’re not familiar with what a web forum is, I’ll explain briefly. A forum, is called a “Montada” in Arabic. It is a place where people can participate in conversations and have a dialogue about certain topics.
So, Why a web forum you may ask? The original reason is to encourage everyone to engage in a dialog about certain topics. In blog posts, this might be achievable through comments, however I believe it is best done through a forum. A website forum, also gives the opportunity for a member to create their own post and give a chance for other members to comment and interact with the ideas of that member.
Please share your thoughts and don’t hesitate to ask any questions if you have any.
EDIT UPDATE: Note that the forum will not take the place of this blog. The forum would be an addition to the site. I believe some of you misunderstood. There is no way I’m removing this blog :p
Good Morning people, time to get into a mellow mood of the week. Enjoy.
..Random Thoughts follow..
When you thought it was all crashing down, you look up and see a tingle of light. You reach up for it and try to grab it.. but.. nothing. You can’t hold it. You realize, you slowly give up on reaching it. It glistens brighter, you can’t help but try one more time to grab it.
You still can’t grasp it. But you see it there, and you notice, with every reach you can go further on ahead. Then you realize, that if you do manage to grab that light, it will soon fade away in your palms, but the fact that you can move just a tiny bit forward, is what really makes a difference.
That sense of accomplishment, no matter how small means much more.. so much more..
When I was a young boy I loved to read random books, and get random information. I thank my parents for providing us with a huge library filled with books on many subjects. The books that I loved the most, were the encyclopedia volumes.
Sometimes, I would flip through a volume and stop at something I found to be interesting. I would read about it, learn, and probably flip around a little more and then go about playing or watching TV. My thirst for knowledge has never ceased, and I say Alhamduli’Allah for that.
Today, I browse online, scanning pages, jumping from link to link but I have found that the quality of information I read online is not what it used to be. I mostly read blogs, and a lot of them are personal, which is fine, but mostly I don’t come out with anything after reading it, except maybe knowing something more about the person.
I sometimes read Wikipedia. It does provide me with a lot of information, but it doesn’t feel satisfying enough, maybe the idea that it is written and edited by regular people (anyone really) is a turn off.
Lately, I’ve been feeling this thirst again. It isn’t only about reading or learning but something more, I can’t quite place it. I feel I want more.. and what I want is certainly and surely not something tangible.
